FMY—A new adventure in lodging—caters to families, couples
and groups who are looking for accessible outdoor fun. FMY invites you and
your gang to an enjoyable excursion into the remote quiet woods of western Maine. FMY
is located just south of the village of Fryeburg and minutes away from all the Mount Washington
Valley amenities. Situated on 60 acres of land, our two eco-friendly yurts are nestled in their
own private setting just a short walk into the woods. Come relax by the outdoor fire pit. Out
your doorstep are private mountain biking, XC ski and snowshoe trails free of use to our guests.
Our trails lead right to the multi-use snowmobile trail network for longer XC ski loops or follow
the trail that leads to the summit of Frost Mountain with stunning views of Mt Washington and
the presidential range. Looking for more adventure? Across the street is the beautiful and
quaint Lovewell Pond with a public boat launch and is a popular access point to the Saco River.
Enjoy skiing, skating, fishing, canoeing & kayaking. Down the road you can find big Mt skiing
& riding at areas such as Shawnee Peak in Bridgton Maine and Cranmore in Conway NH both about
17 miles away.
Each yurt is fully furnished and insulated for year round use. The yurts sleep 6 people
very comfortably on the 3 sets of bunks with mattresses or up to 8 people if you double up
on the pull-out futon couch beds. There is ample space to set up tents around the yurt site
for extra guests. Each yurt has its own porta-potty. Both yurts have a full camp kitchen set
up complete with dishware, cooking utensils, camp stove and plenty of fuel. We have also added
full sized gas grills out on the deck or if you prefer—just cook outside over the open
fire pit. Bring lots of marshmallows and hang out on the benches by the fire. In the warmer
months you can also enjoy the gravity feed showers set up in babbling Tyler Brook alongside
each yurt. Stare at the starry skies through the clear dome while lounging comfortably in
front of the wood stove. Play any of the games supplied within and Frost Mountain
Yurts now offers free use of snowshoes, canoes and kayaks to all guests but you
need to call to reserve due to limited availability.
A backcountry experience without having to go too far back. The trail leading to the yurts
is just about ¼ mile. We supply pack sleds by winter and a "Carts Vermont"
wheeled cart by summer to assist you in bringing out your gear. We do not supply any drinking
water but we do have plenty of water on hand for washing dishes. You will find fully stocked
woodpiles but feel free to scrounge around the woods to gather more. All of the guests who
have stayed at Frost Mountain Yurts have had an exceptional time and continue
to come back to enjoy the alternative lodging away from it all. Don't miss out on this unique
experience. And don't forget your dogs—they are always welcome and of course FREE!
